ABOUT
Salzburg - Gesamtkunstwerk in the heart of Europe (AT, as a tv event-documentary) ” is a voyage from the Grossglockner, along the Salzach valley, into the city of Salzburg and its surroundings showing Salzburg today and its evolution over the last 200 years.
To the world Salzburg is mainly connected to the brands “Sound Of Music”, “Silent Night” and “Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart”. But there is more to tell:
CNN has repeatedly ranked the Salzburg Christmas Market as one of the finest in the world. The Salzburg Festival is considered as the leading cultural festival and its scenic backdrop is a particularly sought-after tourist destination.
On May 1st 2016, the state of Salzburg celebrated its 200th anniversary of its affiliation with Austria. Over the centuries, its various regions have grown together economically and sociologically. Max Reinhardt has called this particular spot a “total work of art”, namely “Gesamtkunstwerk”.
Whether it is mountains or valleys, one has the whole landscape put together: it is favoured by nature, exudes calmness and has much to offer to both its residents and visitors during the wonderful four seasons.
Watching this film, one will experience all the beauty of the Grossglockner massif, over the Alps of the Inner Mountains, through the Salzach valley, past the castle Hohenwerfen into the lowlands, the Summer residence Hellbrunn, Leopoldskron Palace, the huge lake areas and finally the baroque City of Salzburg – built over 1000 years under the regency of the archbishops, mostly by famous Italian architects.
„Salzburg is the heart of the heart of Europe. There is no area more beautiful in Europe – and in this very place Mozart was born.”
(Hugo von Hofmannsthal, from the founding manifesto of the Salzburg Festival 1919)
